THE EMPEROR'S NEW SUIT Many, many years ago there lived an emperor, who spent all his money on new clothes. His only goal in life was to be always well dressed. He did not care for his citizens or anything else that had to do with his kingdom. He did like to go out and about so he could show off his new clothes. He had a coat for every hour of the day. The city where he lived was very busy and exciting. Everyday strangers from all over the world arrived.

Normally, he was very talkative. He didn’t get to have dinner with his mom often. She worked all the time. Jaiden shrugged. “Are you sad that summer’s over?” Jaiden shrugged again. “You’ll have a great time tomorrow,” she said with a smile. “You’re going to be in Ms. Chen’s class, like you wanted.
