RAPUNZEL Once upon a time there was a man and woman who were very sad because they had no children. A window in the back of their house over-looked a lovely garden. It was full of beautiful flowers and vegetables; but the garden was surrounded by a high wall, and no one dared to enter it, for it belonged to an old witch of great power, who was feared by the whole world. One day the woman stood at the window looking at the garden, and she saw that it was full of the finest basil she had ever seen. The leaves looked so fresh and green that she wanted to eat them.

The Goose Girl There was once an old Queen who had a very beautiful daughter. The time came when the daughter was to go to a far away country to be married. The old Queen packed up everything suitable for a Princess to start her new life. The old queen sent a maid with the princess. When it was time for the princess to leave the old queen and the princess said a sad farewell and left for the bridegroom's country. After riding for a while the Princess became very thirsty, and said to her maid, "Go down and fetch me some water in my cup from the stream.

He ran around to Mr. Squirrel's house and tried to get an invitation to breakfast, but Mr. Squirrel had only enough food for himself. THE EMPEROR'S NEW SUIT Many, many years ago there lived an emperor, who spent all his money on new clothes. His only goal in life was to be always well dressed. He did not care for his citizens or anything else that had to do with his kingdom. He did like to go out and about so he could show off his new clothes. He had a coat for every hour of the day. The city where he lived was very busy and exciting. Everyday strangers from all over the world arrived.
